James Joy Schnepf was born on January 11, 1935 in Alix, Alberta.  He was the third child of James and Viola.  He had two older sisters Deloyce and June; three younger brothers Oscar, Richard and Frank and one younger sister Angela.  He was raised on the farm and went to school in Alix until he started his career in the oil patch at the age of 17.  Most of his working years were in Fox Creek, Fort St. John and Camrose.  After he retired as a Production Superintendent for POCO Petroleum in Camrose, he started his pipeline consulting company JJS consulting and worked another 5 years around Alberta.

Jim was blessed with four children Lyle, Craig, Lorna and Julie.  He was very proud of his children and always liked to help them with whatever they were involved with.  He was a Boy Scout Leader and a speed skating supporter.  He loved camping, fishing and river boating and waterskiing and loved taking the kids on all kinds of adventures.

Penny and Jim met in 1982 and another adventure began.  Now there were Penny's four children to add to the adventures.  After retirement Jim liked camping and fishing every chance he could.  He loved the cruise to Alaska and wanted to do it again.

He is survived by Penny; son Craig (Shelley); daughters Lorna Schnepf and Julie (Claude) Eckert; daughter-in-law Yvonne; granddaughters Amanda and her daughters Emily and Chloe; Lynne (Ivor) and their daughter Arya; grandson Aaron Clarke (Kirsten) and their children Zackery and Brynley; step-children Corrine (Vern) McMahon, Greg (Angela) Fox and Glenn (Tanya) Fox and son-in-law Stew Scriven; step-grandchildren Randy, Jennifer and Quenton Scriven; Stephanie McMahon, Brad (Melisa) McMahon; Hailey, Gracie and Darrah Fox, Owen Fox; step-great-grandchildren Danielle Scriven, Ryder Slinn, Kloe and Autumn McMahon; brother Frank Schnepf (Michelle) and sister Angela Piffer.

Jim was predeceased by his son Lyle; step-daughter Jill Scriven; his parents James and Viola; sisters Deloyce Stewart and June Holderness; brothers Oscar and Richard; brothers-in-law Gordon Piffer and Ron Holderness; sisters-in-law Marlene Schnepf and Merle Schnepf.
