NORA KROETSCH

Date: November 30th, 2018

Nora Elizabeth Kroetsch was born to Ferdinand and Hanna Vornbrock on September 12, 1921 in Ankerton, Alberta. It is with sadness her family announce her passing on November 30, 2018 at the age of 97 years.

Nora married Edward Kroetsch on January 5, 1943 and lived on the farm at Heisler where they raised their two children, Gilbert and Sharon. Her pastimes included crocheting afghans, baking, painting, cards and most of all “Bingo”! In 2014 she moved to the Big Knife Villa where she inherited a whole new family who she loved dearly. She always said it was “the closest place to Heaven you could find”. The Staff and homecare there were a super group.

Nora is survived by her son Gilbert; daughter Sharon (Noel) Smith; granddaughter Jodi (Clayton) Gurr; great-grandsons Colten and Kyle Gurr; sister-in-law Rita Bendfeld; brother-in-law Leander (Phylis) Kroetsch as well as numerous nieces, nephews and treasured friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Ferdinand and Hanna Vornbrock, brothers and sisters Otto Vornbrock, Gregor (Elizabeth) Vornbrock, Christine (Lawrence) Lohner, Madeline (Joe) Piro, Bernard Vornbrock, Ermalinda (Lyman) Block; brother-in-laws John Kroetsch, Linus Kroetsch, Arnold Bendfeld and sister-in-laws Loretta Kroetsch, Anne (Clifford) Vanslyke, Edna (Ken) Hauser and Irene Kroetsch.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018 at St. Martin Catholic Parish in Heisler, AB with Father Nunez presiding.  Cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place at the Heisler Cemetery on a later date.  Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of one's choice.
