Date: December 21st, 2018

Tom Eglauer was born Nov. 18, 1941 in Lloydminster, SK, and passed away on December 21, 2018 after a courageous fight with cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Laura, children; Brent (Barb), Vanita (Darrell), Armand, Len (Nancy); 6 grandchildren Megan, Colton, Noah, Alycia, Kendra and Derek; his brother Wayne (Rosemary). He was predeceased by his parents John and Mina, and his sister Anne.

After completing his education at SAIT, Tom continued farming on the home farm near Blackfoot. In 1968, Tom began his carpentry career building homes for the grain managers of the Alberta Wheat Pool across Alberta.

Tom and Laura settled in Tofield in 1974 building a home and raising their family here. Tom was very well known and respected in the community. A carpenter by trade, he built countless homes in Tofield and area – all of which completed as if he were building for himself.

Tom was an avid curler and sportsfan. He loved being in the outdoors – whether fishing on the lake, or working on his fishpond in the backyard. He was an avid model train enthusiast, spending hours developing the track around the basement.

Most importantly, Tom loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a kind man who always had a joke at the ready.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2018 at the The House Church (5830 51 St) in Tofield.  Interment will follow at the Tofield Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Tofield and Area Health Foundation.
