Renee Louise Strandberg was born on January 23, 1970 in Burnaby BC. to Austin Strandberg and Maxine Scott. She was the eldest of three children.

Renee and her two brothers spent most of their childhood living on an acreage just out of Fort St. John BC called the "Airport Subdivision". It was adjacent to the airport and was a small tight-knit community where they had a lot of freedom to roam and would often go down to the Beaton River and spend the day playing near the river. Many of the "kids from the airport" are still friends and talk about all the shenanigans that went on unbeknownst to their parents. After high school Renee went to Nanaimo BC to become a hair dresser. Renee was very artistic and loved the beauty industry as she could express her artistic flair in this occupation. For years she gave her family haircuts for free and always took her scissors along in case somebody needed a haircut.

Renee was a strong, resilient, feisty, adventures and independent person, who had many friends. Many of these friendships lasted for years. She had two beautiful children, Amanda and Logan whom she loved fiercely. She had an enthusiasm and flare for life, and a great sense of humour. People were drawn to her.

Renee is survived by her parents, Maxine Brough (Jim Brough) and Austin Strandberg (Rachelle Strandberg); her daughter Amanda Sarauer (Jesse Groat) and their daughter Violet, her son Logan O'Brien (Chevonne); her brothers Michael Strandberg and his children, Jack, Hudson, Rory and Avelyn and their mother Kim; Darcy Strandberg (Treena) and children Sterling, Camryn and Daylon; step siblings Catharine Brough and Christine Brough, Mark Freeman and Tawnya Hobbs. She is also survived her partner and the love of her life Allan McKay, Allan's mother Audrey McKay and Allan's sister Kenda McKay.

Renee was predeceased by her grandparents Ann and Verner Strandberg, and Edgar and Winifred Scott.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at St. Andrew's Anglican Church (4713 - 50 St., Camrose) with Father Jacques deGuise Vaillancourt, CD presiding. Cremation has taken place.
