Date: February 18th, 2018

Charles Robert McLeod of Tofield, AB was born at Spilstead, AB on June 7, 1935;  he passed away suddenly at Edmonton, AB on Feb 18, 2018 at the age of 82 years.

Charlie grew up on the original family homestead near Spilstead Hall and went to school at Hastings Lake.  He was known as at the owner of the Lindbrook Store from 1962 – 1978.  After selling the Lindbrook Store he became very active in the community and had many roles, including being a car salesman, real estate agent, and he was most proud of being a school bus driver for nearly 20 years.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand anywhere he was needed, and gave his time and wisdom willingly to those who needed it.  He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Charlie is survived by his companion of many years Joyce Henderson; his children MaryAnn (Brian) Faltinson, Linda (Wade) Sware, Dan (Phyllis) McLeod, Susan (Phil) Baker, Greg (Liezl) McLeod, Jacqueline McLeod; and Joyce's children Dianne Henderson, and Marianne (Phil) Paul; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; his brothers Ken (Ann) McLeod and Jack Muir; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.  He was predeceased by his wife Mavis McLeod; grandson Steven Sware; and sister Lillian McLeod.

A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at the Tofield United Church with Rev. Adam Hall officiating.  Cremation has taken place.  Memorial donations may be made to the Spilstead Hall Ladies Society, or to the charity of one’s choice.
