Marvin Eugene Giebelhaus of Holden, Alberta was born on October 9, 1929 to Mary and George.  He passed away on March 23, 2018 at the Viking Extended Care at the age of 88 years.


Marvin was born in Vegreville and was baptized at the Salem United Church.  Growing up on the family farm he attended the Adams Country School and Holden High School.  He married Harriet on January 3, 1976 at the Salem United Church.  He worked at Giebelhaus Building Supplies, hauled gravel for 9 years and worked as a parts man for 2 years. He owned and managed the M&M grocery store in Holden until he retired in 1980.


He is survived by his wife Harriet; step-son Darvyn Sen; step-daughters Brenda (Grant) Ramsay and Shauna Schmidt; brothers Wallace, James (Sharon) and Robert (Marie); brother-in-law Gary David (Lynn); daughter-in-law Linda Sen; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.


Marvin was predeceased by his parents; his sister Betty Lou, step-son Kevin Sen; and sister-in-law Florence Giebelhaus.


A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Salem United Church north of Holden with Rev. Carolyn Woodall officiating.  Interment will follow at the Salem United Cemetery.


Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
