Edward Patrick David Fisher of Spilstead, AB was born on Feb. 28, 1936 to Alfred and Grace Fisher at Windsor, Ontario. He passed away on July 7, 2019 at the age of 83 years.
Ed was born, raised, and went to school at Windsor, Ontario. After school he dedicated his life to service in the military, spending 26 years as a mechanic and supervisor. He enjoyed his time in the military and has numerous friends from around the world whom he met while on tours in Germany, Egypt and various stations around Canada. In 1958 Ed met his soon to be wife Marwyn "Moe" on a blind date set up by Moe's friends. On August 24, 1959 Ed and Moe were married, and to this marriage they were blessed with four children: Cindy, Paddy, Sandi, and Jeff. In 1980 Ed decided to retire from service and he and Moe moved to the Spilstead, Alberta area. Here he and Moe enjoyed many years together and he was actively involved with the local Legion as the Sgt. of Arms. Ed was diagnoses with Alzheimer's in 2015, and in 2017 he was admitted to the Centennial Centre in Ponoka, AB where he received the utmost care from all of the exceptional staff.
He is survived by his wife Marwyn "Moe"; children Cindy (Rick) Ells, Paddy (Julie), Sandy (Mike), and Jeff (Lisa); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Alfred "Pop"; sister Betty (Russ) Bessette; brother Fred (Margaret); brother Charlie; and niece Diane.
A celebration of Ed's life will take place at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Tofield, AB with Rev. Adam Hall officiating. Cremation has taken place. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Alberta.
