Ernest Evenson, a Son, Dad, Brother, Grandpa, Uncle, and Friend, passed away on August 7, 2019 in St. Mary’s Hospital Camrose.
Ernie was born to Arlie and Augustine at Viking, AB on January 24, 1954. He is the oldest brother to Harvey (Cathie) Evenson, Arlene (Art) Molnar, Shirley (Ron) Brothen, and Harold Evenson. Ernie was raised on the family farm and moved into town as a young adult.
In his younger years he married his first wife Rita, and together they raised two children; Rose-Anne (Nathan) Spence and Robert (Nathalie) Evenson. He was always excited to spend time with his grandchildren; Hazen (Allisia), Shelene, Chance, Trista, Jessi, Kodiak, and Nick; and they were all eagerly and warmly welcomed.
Ernie worked at Wetaskiwin Motors for 20+ years, and it was here that he made many lifelong friends, who the family thanks for coming to visit when he became ill.
If you had an engine chances were that Ernie wanted to take a look at it or could have fixed it. If you didn’t have this, camping, fishing, or just visiting were other favorite pastimes.
Ernie met his second wife Gail and her children Michelle, Dominique, and Lee, added more grandchildren to the family. Together Gail and Ernie raised and spoiled their poodle Rascal. They took many trips together and enjoyed a mutual love of traveling.
Ernie leaves behind Rascal; his mother Augustine; siblings Harvey (Cathie), Harold, Arlene (Art) Molnar, Shirley (Ron) Brothen; children Rose-Anne (Nathan) Spence, and Robert (Nathalie); as well as eight grandchildren; and his first wife Rita.
He now re-joins other friends and family, including his father Arlie; second wife Gail; nephew Shane; and great-niece Samantha.
Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Weber's Mount Pleasant Chapel, Camrose, AB with Father Joby Augustine as celebrant. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place on a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made directly to the charity of one's choice.
