Walter John Kozdrowski of Camrose, AB was born at Poe, AB on February 17, 1938. He was the oldest child of Jean Stella (nee Kubin) and John Leon Kozdrowski. Walter was raised on the family farm near Poe, AB. On June 5th, 1959 he married the love if his life, Elizabeth Weder, and so began their 60 year adventure together. Walter worked for the Alberta Treasury Branch for 33 years. He started in his 20's as a clerk and eventually worked his way up to be an internal auditor. Working for the Treasury Branch took him to many locations throughout Alberta including Ryley, Edmonton, St. Paul, Innisfail, Manning, Lac La Biche, Edson, Ponoka and eventually to Camrose where he retired at the age of 55. Here, in Camrose, he made many friends, and spoke fondly of his "McDonalds Coffee Group".
Walter had many life long passions, including hunting, fishing, curling, and camping. They took every opportunity to camp. As a kid, Walter helped his dad with the ice at the curling rink in Ryley, along with curling on mixed and father and son teams. Every holiday possible was spent lakeside, or camping. They had even done some winter camping while on ice fishing trips. He also had a passion for lapidary and collected his own rocks which he would use to make various trinkets, belt buckles, rings, and bolo ties. He also handcrafted his own fishing hooks, flies, ties, and jigs, some of which have been incorporated into the flower arrangements for the service.
Walter passed away on December 10, 2019 at the age of 81 years after a brief battle with cancer. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
