Fred was born in Ferintosh, Alberta to parents Peter and Gunda ((Tatjiana) Gialet. Despite being born with disabilities, his outlook on life was one of positivity and gratitude for life's pleasures - especially friends and family. As a child he was always helping his mother with chores and garden work. In 1967, the family moved to Camrose and his mother looked after him for as long as she was able. At 37, he moved to his new home at Bethany Care Centre and loved interacting with the community.
Fred spent many years toing to Centra Cam Vocational Training Association which he throroughly enjoyed and made many friends. With the help from instructors he was shown how to craft, paint and assemble bird houses - he was always busy in his work area!
When Fred couldn't go to Centra Cam any longer, many of his friends would visit him at Bethany for an afternoon of puzzles, colouring and visiting.
He adored music and food and when entertainers came to play at Bethany, he was the first one in the front row poiserd to enjoy the music. He never refused a second helping of food or dessert and always put on his Sunday best for church in the chapel. Fred was a wonderful man and his positive spirit brought genuine joy to the people around him.
Fred passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the age of 90 years. He was predeceased by his parents; sister-in-law Velma Gialet and brothers George and Bill Gialet. Left to cherish his memory is his sister-in-law Ruby Gialet and his nieces and nephews.
