Obituary of Eleanor Jacobson

Eleanor Irene Jacobson of Tofield, AB was born at Benito, Manitoba on September 3, 1941 to John and Margaret Olson; she passed away on March 1, 2021 at the age of 79 years. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Marvin; children Charlene (Bruce) Nickel; son Trevor Jacobson; grandchildren Madison, Kayla, and Shaylynn; siblings Doris Severson, Ethel Brager, and Milton (Shirley) Olson. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Brittani Nickel; sister Esther Ellingson; and brother Arnold Olson. Eleanor was born on September 3, 1941 in Benito, Manitoba to John and Margaret Olson. In 1958, she moved with her mom and sister Doris to Calgary. Mutual friends introduced Eleanor to a farmer from Ryley and on August 14, 1965, she married Marvin Jacobson. Charlene was born in 1967 and later that year, the family moved from Tofield to the farm north of Ryley. In 1969, Trevor was born. Eleanor spent the years on the farm gardening, cooking, and doing book work. She loved volunteering at “That Place” coffee shop and was an active member of Bardo Lutheran Church. Eleanor had many treasured friendships, but her greatest joy was her family, especially her three grandchildren. Marvin and Eleanor moved to their home in Tofield in 2000, where she resided until going to Long Term Care in September 2017. Against all odds, Eleanor was able to go home for 11 months before going back into Long Term Care in July of 2019. Those months at home and the memories that were made during that time were truly a blessing! Due to covid19 restrictions a private family service will be held. Interment will take place at the Ryley Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute.
