Obituary of Susanna Megli
With sad but grateful hearts we announce the passing of Susanna Boese Megli on April 23,2021 at the age of 94. She was a dearly loved wife, mother, nana, sister, and aunt. She leaves to mourn, her husband Ray Megli, 7 children, 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 siblings and a host of relatives and friends. Susanna was born December 9,1926 at Swalwell, AB to Solomon and Margaret Boese. She grew up with 6 brothers and 3 sisters. She married Ray Megli in January 1951 and over the span of 70 years they embraced companionship, adventure, hardship and joy. Susanna remains the star in Ray's heart.
Susanna's faith in Jesus Christ as her Saviour, both for this life and the next, grounded her throughout the challenges that life brought. She loved talking about the truths from the Bible and how they applied to life.
She will be remembered for her quiet unassuming spirit and her hospitality to countless visitors that her husband, family and friends brought through her doors here in Alberta as well as each winter at their farm in Australia. Her zest for life was often expressed by berry picking, picnicking, fishing, golfing and travelling till the end of her 9th decade. She never lost her love of reading. She looked forward to the annual mother/daughter retreat in Canmore where she enjoyed the scenery, the food, the conversation and laughter, surrounded by her daughters and sometimes her sisters. As she embarked on her 10th decade her character was marked by sweet contentment and a gracious spirit even as she navigated the challenges of being isolated due to Covid.
She will be remembered by her children for her constant source of love, her endless support, her obvious enjoyment of their attention and the relationship she had with each one. Her entire family anticipates reuniting with her one day.
Holding her always in their hearts are her loving husband Ray Megli (Camrose); children Dale and Leslie Megli, Australia, Ruth Boettger, Airdrie, Jay Megli, Camrose, Ladean and Kelvin Isaac, New Norway, Rita and Rob Johnson, Daysland, Ivy and Kevin Birch, New Norway, Robyn and Shane Smith, Camrose; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Joel (Nicole) Megli, McKinney and Ivy.
